Ecotones are the shifting transitional zones between ecosystems in the landscape. Where land meets water, forest meets meadow, high meets low and wet meets dry.
The audio-visual piece is made from processed recordings of these ecotones and unfolds across a full year over the course of 30 minutes. Though separated by time, the seasons remain deeply interconnected through the natural transformations that all landscapes undergo. The imagery is further distorted based on meteorological datasets such as rain, wind, and sunlight across the individual seasons, a parameter referred to here as the ecotonic factor. These distortions become a visual expression of the ceaseless activity and movement that animate nature.
